South Eastern Railway has issued a seven-day eviction notice to shopkeepers operating on railway land near Burnpur station in West Burdwan. Shopkeepers, some operating for 20-30 years, protested, citing livelihood concerns and lack of rehabilitation plans. Asansol Municipal Corporation Councillor Ashok Rudra visited the site, expressing support for the traders and urging the railway authorities to consider their future and make rehabilitation arrangements before eviction.
