Nagaland Demands Assam Rifles Vacate Land for Dimapur Airport Expansion; New Airport Considered

The Nagaland Urban Council Federation and all 36 town councils have demanded the Assam Rifles Training Centre (ARTC) vacate 18.9 acres of Airport Authority of India (AAI) land to allow the delayed expansion of Dimapur Airport. The occupation is seen as unauthorized and obstructive to development, affecting connectivity and economic growth. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio stated that if ARTC fails to vacate by the October 2025 deadline, the central government must provide Nagaland with a new airport, highlighting ongoing discussions with central ministries.
