The Supreme Court is reviewing petitions challenging the sharp reduction of the NEET-PG 2025 qualifying percentile, which in some categories has been lowered to zero or negative scores. The Centre defends the move, stating NEET-PG ranks candidates for limited postgraduate seats and does not certify clinical competence, which is established by the MBBS qualification. The government cites thousands of vacant seats and expert recommendations, while the Court seeks assurance that education quality and standards in postgraduate medical training are not compromised. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on March 24.
