The Punjab government has suspended Lakhbir Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the Vigilance Bureau in Amritsar, for alleged grave misconduct and dereliction of duty. Sources indicate the suspension is linked to allegations of Singh interfering in tenders for development work in Ranjit Avenue, potentially involving misappropriation of funds. An internal complaint prompted disciplinary action, with an investigation underway to ascertain the extent of irregularities and any undue influence exerted. This is the second such suspension of an Amritsar SSP in recent weeks.
