
A court in Belthangady has issued a non-bailable warrant against activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarody for failing to appear in a case concerning an alleged inflammatory speech. The speech, made at a Hindu Samaja Rakshana program, reportedly created doubts about Dharmasthala and other temples, hurting religious sentiments and disturbing peace. Thimarody, accused in 22 criminal cases, also faces perjury charges from a separate investigation and has been ordered to be externed from Dakshina Kannada.
