The Tirumala temple in Andhra Pradesh is set to launch a state-of-the-art food testing laboratory costing around Rs 25 crore, equipped with advanced 'electronic tongue' and 'electronic nose' devices imported from France. These machines will analyze the quality, taste, and aroma of prasadam ingredients, including ghee, to ensure purity and safety amid recent contamination concerns. The lab, developed under an agreement with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, is nearly complete and expected to begin operations next month, enhancing food safety and transparency for devotees.
