During Maharashtra's Budget session, Industries Minister Uday Samant announced a committee led by an Additional Chief Secretary rank official will investigate alleged housing fraud in Navi Mumbai. The probe follows claims by NCP (SP) MLC Shashikant Shinde that some builders bypassed the mandatory 20% affordable housing reservation, using the space for commercial flats instead. Samant noted that building permissions in Nerul are issued by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, and action will be taken against CIDCO officials involved in granting approvals.
