The Supreme Court has imposed an interim ban on new mining leases and renewals across all four Aravalli states, including Haryana, until a sustainable management plan is finalized. This action follows criticism of the Haryana government's handling of illegal mining in the region. The court adopted a uniform, scientific definition for Aravalli Hills, classifying landforms rising 100 meters or more. Despite the ban and stepped-up enforcement, illegal extraction remains a concern in the fragile Aravalli range.
