Elephant Runs Amok During Shivamogga Dasara; Inquiry and Religious Remedies Proposed
During the Shivamogga Dasara procession, elephant Somanna, carrying the howdah with the Goddess Chamundeshwari idol, ran amok after being repositioned to lead the parade, causing the howdah to fall and damage the idol. Officials suggest the change in Somanna's position and limited training contributed to the incident. Following the event, local leaders proposed a religious remedy, and the Forest Department initiated an internal inquiry to investigate the causes and circumstances.
