CAQM Panel Proposes EV Registrations by 2030, Invites Vehicle Makers for Emission Talks

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) expert panel is considering recommending only electric vehicle registrations in Delhi-NCR by 2030 to reduce pollution, prompting concerns from gas distributors and carmakers who advocate for a technology-neutral approach including CNG use. Meanwhile, the panel has invited major vehicle manufacturers, including electric and conventional OEMs, for direct talks on emission reduction strategies, excluding the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers to expedite policy decisions.
