The probe centers on claims that Mitra received bribes in cash and gold through intermediaries to facilitate appointments of ineligible candidates across multiple municipalities, including Kamarhati. Officials allege Mitra is connected to over 125 such appointments under scrutiny. The searches aim to gather evidence related to suspected money laundering and recruitment irregularities amid broader investigations into municipal job scams in West Bengal.
