Mizoram Reports 1,177 Non-Tribals Pushed Back for ILP Violations in Two Years

Mizoram's Home Minister K. Sapdanga reported that 1,177 non-tribal individuals were pushed back for Inner Line Permit (ILP) violations over the past two years, during which over 3.39 lakh ILPs were issued. Kolasib district issued the most permits, followed by Aizawl. Revenue from ILPs reached Rs 15.12 crore. The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) has called for reforms to close loopholes allowing non-locals to bypass traditional sponsorship rules, urging the government to rescind notifications permitting self-sponsorship by non-tribal trade license holders.
