The Coimbatore Corporation Council approved a plan to divert surplus water from Selva Chinthamani Tank to Valankulam using RCC and MS pipelines, costing an estimated 6 crore. This project aims to prevent flooding from heavy inflows and utilize potable water. The proposal includes draining Valankulam's sewage and mixing freshwater to prevent pollution. While the council passed numerous resolutions, the AIADMK floor leader criticized the use of an "urgency tag" for a meeting with over 100 resolutions, suggesting a lack of discussion.
