The Sambhal administration conducted a survey of a graveyard near the Shahi Jama Masjid, identifying over two dozen illegally built shops and houses encroaching on approximately 1,000 square meters of the 4,780 square meter burial ground. The survey was prompted by a complaint from a Hindutva group alleging that rioters used these structures during a previous court-ordered survey. Notices are being served to the encroachers, and demolition may follow if their replies are unsatisfactory. Significant security forces were deployed for the operation.
