Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced a 5 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for state government employees and pensioners, raising the total to 41 percent effective April 1, 2026. This hike will benefit around 1.83 lakh people, including 1.02 lakh employees and 81,000 pensioners, with an additional annual expenditure of Rs 500 crore. The government aims to narrow the DA gap with the central government, which currently provides 58 percent. Opposition leaders noted the announcement's timing after the budget speech.
