Multiple courts across West Bengal, including in Kolkata, Asansol, Durgapur, Berhampore, Chinsurah, and Hooghly, received bomb threat emails on February 24, prompting evacuations and extensive searches by police and bomb disposal squads. No explosives were found. The threats coincided with the Supreme Court-mandated deployment of judicial officers for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. State officials have initiated investigations to identify the source and assured enhanced security for judicial personnel involved in the SIR process.
