Sikkim to Rename Pakyong Airport After Freedom Fighter Trilochan Pokhrel

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang announced the renaming of Pakyong Airport after freedom fighter Trilochan Pokhrel, known as 'Gandhi Pokhrel' and the state's first independence activist. Pokhrel participated in key movements like the Quit India Movement and lived with Mahatma Gandhi. The airport, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018, is Sikkim's only airport. The announcement was made during the 31st Foundation Day of the Akhil Sikkim Khas Chettri Bahun Kalyan Sangh at Rangpo.
