Maharashtra education officers are planning a strike starting January 19, protesting the arrest of Yavatmal education officer Ravindra Katolkar in connection with the alleged Shalarth ID scam. The All Maharashtra Education Service Gazetted Officers Association claims officers face an atmosphere of "arrest, interrogation and intimidation." They argue Katolkar's arrest for signing salary payments is unjust, as he lacks authority over Shalarth ID logins and salary processing. The scam reportedly involves over 500 teachers recruited irregularly, with funds exceeding Rs 100 crore.
