Chandigarh's e-challan system, implemented in 2020, has led to a 53% reduction in complaints against traffic police between August and December 2025 compared to the previous year. The system, integrated with CCTV cameras and automated technologies, significantly minimizes human intervention. This technological shift, part of Smart City initiatives, has resulted in fewer allegations of wrongful challaning and bribery, with 82% of challans now generated automatically.
