The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has imposed restrictions on the Santhanakoodu Urus festival at the Thirupparankundram hill. The court directed that only the Santhanakoodu Urus be conducted with a maximum of 50 participants, prohibiting animal sacrifice, carrying meat, and cooking non-vegetarian food. These restrictions are to be enforced from the foothills to the top. The court was hearing a petition seeking to prohibit the 'Kandhoori' festival, with the government stating permission would only be granted for Santhanakoodu.
