Over 3.5 million social security pensioners in Punjab, including widows, the differently-abled, and destitute children, have not received their pensions since October. The delay is attributed to the state's financial constraints, with the Finance Department citing depleting cash reserves. The monthly pension payout is Rs 529 crore, with each beneficiary receiving Rs 1,500. Pensioners, particularly in rural areas, are facing hardship and borrowing money for daily and medical expenses due to the delayed disbursement.
