Maharashtra Proposes Law to Regulate Private Preschools with Mandatory Registration

The Maharashtra government plans to introduce a law regulating private preschools, making registration on the Preschool Registration Portal mandatory with renewal every three years. Over 12,700 institutions have registered so far. The proposed framework includes appointing a competent authority for regulation, enforcing quality standards such as a 20:1 student-teacher ratio, child-centric curriculum, child-friendly infrastructure, and prohibiting entrance tests at the pre-primary level to ensure safe, quality early education.
