Citizens in 19 states can now access legally valid digital land records from home, a development described as the "Aadhaar for Land." The Unique Land Parcel Identification Number (ULPIN) has been assigned to over 36 crore land parcels nationwide. This digitization effort, nearing completion in villages and urban areas, aims to streamline land administration and speed up credit access through online mortgage verification by banks.
