The Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul freight train service has been delayed again due to security concerns, preventing its scheduled resumption. The service, which traverses the restive Balochistan province, has faced repeated suspensions since its 2009 trial run due to operational, customs, infrastructure, and security issues. Recent violent terror attacks in Balochistan have heightened tensions, impacting passenger train services and contributing to this latest delay. Authorities had previously announced a December 31 resumption, but security clearance procedures remain incomplete.
