Manipur Governor Meets Home Minister Amit Shah Amid Ethnic Violence and Security Operations

Manipur Governor Ajay Bhalla met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on February 28, 2026, to discuss state issues following the formation of a new government after a year of President's rule. The state has experienced ethnic violence between Meitei and Kuki communities since May 2023, resulting in at least 260 deaths and displacement of thousands. Security forces are conducting operations against illegal weapons and poppy fields, while efforts continue to ease community tensions.
