
In Bhiwandi town, Maharashtra, post-municipal election tensions between Konark Vikas Aghadi (KVA) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters escalated into violent clashes on January 18, injuring six people, including two police officers. The violence involved stone-pelting, vandalism of the BJP office and KVA leader Vilas Patil's bungalow, and police resorted to lathi-charge to restore order. Both sides accused each other of initiating the violence, with 44 arrests made and multiple FIRs registered. The situation is currently under control with heavy security deployed.
