The Election Commission of India will summon over 24 lakh voters in West Bengal for hearings and document verification due to suspicious links to previous electoral rolls through their parents. These voters were flagged for logical discrepancies, particularly when multiple individuals linked to the same parent, who appeared too young. This process follows an initial flagging of 1.67 crore voters, with the number reduced to 1.18 crore after block-level officer verifications. The commission is also holding hearings for 32 lakh unmapped voters.
