An 82-year-old man in Purulia, West Bengal, died after allegedly jumping in front of a train hours before a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) hearing. His family stated he was anxious because his name was missing from the draft voter list, despite being on the 2002 list. Police are investigating the death. The Election Commission recently issued an order allowing exemptions for personal hearings for individuals aged 85 and above, or those who are sick or disabled.
