Maharashtra plans to convert its entire 22,000-bus fleet under the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) to electric vehicles by 2037, aiming to be the first state with a fully electric state-run bus network. Currently, about 800 buses are electric. The state’s EV Policy offers incentives like toll waivers on major highways and tax benefits. Charging infrastructure is being developed, including solar-powered stations, to support this transition aligned with India’s broader goal of full electric mobility by 2047.
