Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced plans to expand Pune's metro network to 200 kilometres, covering Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the PMRDA region. The Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar corridor, spanning 23 kilometres with 23 stations, will open in two phases starting May. Currently, 55 kilometres of metro lines are operational, with another 55 kilometres under construction and 80 kilometres planned. The expansion aims to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity, including a proposed link to Purandar airport.
