Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the 23-km Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro corridor in Pune will open in two phases, with the first 11-12 km expected by May 2026 and the remaining stretch by July 2026. The project, implemented via a public-private partnership led by Tata and Siemens, has faced multiple delays beyond its original 2025 deadline. Fadnavis also outlined plans for a 200-km integrated metro network across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and surrounding areas to ease traffic congestion and improve urban mobility.
