Congress leaders, led by former minister Gurkirat Singh Kotli, protested in Khanna against the block samiti chairman and vice-chairman elections, alleging the process was undemocratic as the Aam Aadmi Party appointed both posts despite holding only six of 16 seats. The protest escalated when Kotli and supporters attempted to lock the Block Development and Panchayat Office, leading to their detention by police. All detainees were later released, with Kotli vowing to continue the agitation for democratic transparency.
