Syrian Government and US-Backed Kurdish Forces Agree to Immediate Ceasefire

The Syrian government and the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) agreed to an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire following recent clashes in northeastern Syria. The deal includes the withdrawal of SDF forces east of the Euphrates River and the integration of SDF fighters into Syria's defence and interior ministries after security checks. The government will assume full military and administrative control of Deir al-Zor and Raqqa provinces, including border crossings and energy resources. The agreement also transfers responsibility for Islamic State detainees to the Syrian government. Both sides signed a 14-point agreement aiming to stabilize the region.
