The Indian Army is intensifying anti-terror preparedness in Jammu's Chenab Valley by training approximately 150 Village Defence Guards (VDGs) from 17 remote villages. Volunteers, including women, are learning to handle automatic and self-loading rifles, basic self-defense, bunker construction, and combat techniques. This initiative aims to bolster grassroots security and community resilience against potential terrorist attacks, complementing ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the higher reaches of Doda and Kishtwar districts.
