Senior Congress leader B K Hariprasad formally assumed charge as Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president at a convention in Bengaluru, succeeding Chief Minister D K Shivakumar. The event, attended by key party leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge and Siddaramaiah, marked the start of the party's campaign for upcoming local elections and the 2028 Assembly polls. Hariprasad, an OBC leader from the Billava community and former Rajya Sabha member, pledged to uphold democratic values and criticized the BJP and RSS for allegedly undermining the Constitution.
