
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) held a review meeting chaired by Mayor Manjusha Nagpure to assess and strengthen the process of issuing birth and death certificates. Prompted by reports of bogus certificates in cities like Malegaon and Mumbai, officials emphasized stricter verification, transparency, and compliance with the Civil Registration System requiring QR-coded certificates. PMC plans to re-examine certificates issued over the past five years, including delayed applications, coordinating with police to address discrepancies and ensure national security concerns are met.
