Mizoram Launches Rubber Mission to Boost Rubber Cultivation and Agricultural Identity

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced the launch of the Chief Minister's Rubber Mission in October 2024 to develop the state into a major rubber producer. The mission, based on consultations with the Rubber Board of India and the Tripura Rubber Mission, has seen strong farmer participation and progress beyond expectations. Mizoram, which attained Union Territory status over 50 years ago, aims to establish a distinct agricultural identity through rubber and other crops like ginger and passion fruit. Training programs and government support are ongoing to promote scientific cultivation and sustainable practices.
