The Swabhimani Paksha, a farmers' party led by Raju Shetti, has pledged support to the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) for the upcoming Maharashtra civic polls. Shetti cited urban citizen hardships, including rising prices and joblessness, and accused ruling parties of corruption. While the MVA, comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP), is not fully united in the elections, Swabhimani Paksha will back MVA candidates who champion public issues and urban resident interests. Elections for 29 municipal corporations are scheduled for January 15.
