Karnataka's government is considering a stringent new law against caste killings following the murder of Manya Patil, who was allegedly attacked by her family for marrying outside her caste. Social Welfare Minister HC Mahadevappa met the victim's husband and stated the government would explore introducing a tough legal framework in the upcoming session. The minister emphasized adult women's right to choose partners and promised strict action against all involved, including those who abetted the crime.
