The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has criticized the Election Commission of India (ECI) for requiring elderly, ailing, and disabled voters to attend hearings for electoral roll revisions at camps away from their homes. TMC leaders allege this practice, part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for 'unmapped' electors, is "inhuman" and "torture," contrasting it with the usual procedure of sending officials to residences for such individuals. They demand the ECI arrange home visits for these voters, citing difficulties in travel and questioning the process's scale.
