
A parliamentary committee led by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has highlighted delays and underutilisation of funds in key technology initiatives under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), including the India AI Mission and semiconductor schemes. Despite allocations exceeding Rs 10,000 crore over five years for the AI mission, spending has been low, attributed to early-stage implementation and institutional setup. The panel expressed concerns over hardware costs, supply chain delays, and resource consumption, urging accelerated progress and increased compute capacity.
