
The Assam government is advancing plans to address Guwahati's persistent flooding through large-scale excavation and drainage projects. Urban Affairs Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah highlighted ongoing work on nearly 800 bighas in Silsako and a Rs 25 crore drainage project at Rukminigaon aimed at increasing water flow capacity. A dedicated flood-free mission team is overseeing these scientifically guided efforts to reduce waterlogging and improve urban drainage, with the goal of providing long-term relief to affected residents.
