The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) is proposing to exempt government and religious events from standby duty charges for fire safety cover. This proposal aims to address administrative challenges in recovering fees from these organizations. Existing charges for private events, commercial programs, and film shootings will remain unchanged. Previously, the MC had increased standby duty charges significantly in August and September, impacting various events within and outside the city.
