Indian Railways plans to launch nine new Amrit Bharat Express trains from West Bengal and Assam, connecting seven states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. These non-AC sleeper trains aim to provide affordable long-distance travel at fares around Rs 500 per 1,000 kilometres, targeting middle- and lower-income passengers. The new routes will enhance connectivity between eastern India and major regions across the north, south, and west, complementing 30 existing Amrit Bharat Express services launched since December 2023.
