Delhi's Transport Department has impounded 7,789 end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) since October 1, 2025, for violating anti-pollution rules under GRAP III and IV. This action aligns with National Green Tribunal and Supreme Court directives to curb vehicular emissions, which contribute significantly to Delhi's air pollution. Over 1.2 million vehicles have also been challaned for pollution-related offenses, with a Rs 10,000 penalty for operating without a Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC). The department has deregistered over 5.5 million ELVs since January 2022.
