India Highlights Indian Ocean Recovery, Seafarer Safety, and Maritime Strategy at Raisina Dialogue

At the Raisina Dialogue 2026, India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized the Indian Ocean Region's ongoing recovery and the need for enhanced maritime cooperation, including trade route restoration and seafarer safety. He highlighted India's diplomatic efforts and humanitarian response, notably allowing the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Lavan to dock in Kochi after technical issues, following the sinking of IRIS Dena by the US. Economic advisor Sanjeev Sanyal stressed India's strategic risks due to reliance on foreign shipping and called for stronger maritime awareness and fleet capacity.
