Kashmir Tourism Seeks Revival Through Adventure Sports Initiative

Jammu and Kashmir's tourism sector, impacted by a terror attack and military conflict in 2025, is seeking a revival through an ambitious adventure-tourism push. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced the region's formal dive into adventure tourism, highlighting skiing, white-water rafting, trekking, mountaineering, and paragliding. The initiative aims to leverage attractions like Gulmarg's ski slopes and the Sonamarg tunnel to boost the industry, which employs nearly a million people.
