
Around 500 army cadets who sustained disabilities during training and were previously ineligible for ex-serviceman benefits now have access to the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS). This extension, following Supreme Court cognizance and a Ministry of Defence order, significantly reduces their medical costs through cashless treatment at military and empanelled private facilities. Previously, these cadets faced substantial out-of-pocket expenses, impacting their families.
