Congress Nears Finalization of Assam Poll Candidates, Second List Expected Soon

The Indian National Congress is finalizing its candidate list for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, with around 95% of seats decided and a second list expected on March 14. The Central Election Committee, chaired by party president Mallikarjun Kharge and attended by Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders, reviewed preparations. Former Asom Gana Parishad leader Jayanta Khaound recently joined Congress, reflecting growing opposition to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
