India Maintains Stable Energy Supplies, Explores Alternative Gas Sources Amid West Asia Conflict

Government sources state that India is in a comfortable position regarding energy security amid the West Asia conflict, with adequate stocks of crude oil, LPG, and LNG being replenished regularly. India imports 195 million metric standard cubic metres per day of gas, with Qatar supplying 60 million. To diversify supplies, India is exploring alternative markets including Australia and Canada, engaging with global bodies like the IEA and OPEC, and securing contracts with the UAE and the US. There are no plans for petrol or diesel rationing, and measures like force majeure declarations are being used to prioritize gas supply to critical sectors.
